The Steelworks directly employs about 6000 people at Port Kembla, but many more elsewhere in Australia and overseas. Through the mix of cultures within employees, international understanding is improving and skills are broadening. Employees are encouraged to gain experience from a range of sites within the steel industry, and they may work in different countries.

The Port Kembla Steelworks workforce is committed to the business and its customers. Employees are involved in setting targets for improved quality of products and productivity and thereby play a major role in the development of the business.
